Back to Basics

Our lives have become so hectic and inundated with modern technology and so has our approach to health. Mostly every disease symptom has a drug or in natural health a nutrient, herbal or concentrated food remedy to treat it with. These are in the form of tablets, capsules, powders and liquids. What about wholefoods ! We have forgotten how to live a simple life in a complex world. how to live in harmony with nature and every changing life.
We are fascinated and addicted to the many gourmet cooking shows such as master Chef. But is this style of cooking and eating healthy for us ? And who has time to prepare such elaborate meals for our already fussy families !
In the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda foods are selected and prepared according to the season and to our individual constitutional type. We may be Vata-air element, Pitta- fire element, Kapha-water/earth element or a combination of these. So as we are an individual and need to eat for optimum health according to our specific type, so our our other members of the family. So it takes much skill and knowledge in preparing a family meal that will suit all.
